The Kunstpause is a Cafè and restaurant in the building of the Landesmuseum (national museum). It is having the most beautiful and iconic terrace in Innsbruck right in front of the museum where you will be able to relax in the sun from a.m....until it will disappear behind the mountains in the evening. The new team running this place since March is a mix of young, creative and welcoming people coming from aboard or born in Innsbruck. They manage it to make every guest happy and feel welcomed. They offer a variety of drinks. I recommend to have an iconic Weis-Sauer (Austrian white wine mixed with sparkling water served with icecubes and a slice of lime). If you want to enjoy the city like the locals do than have three of them and relax in the sun. The new young chef creates daily fresh meals which are delicious and creative but not expensive at all.

Cafe Kunstpause services the tables in front of the museum. I did not order food but I can speak of the setting outside and the service. The tables by the museum are surrounded by flowers and are not overly touristy (you are on a pretty...main street). You get to watch both tourists and locals pass by. There are also awnings which helps with the showers or the sun. I found the service pleasant and attentive. euro or so for a large beer was reasonable.

On sunny days it is very popular to sit outside. They have also large sun shades to prevent sun burns. Interesting menu with unusual dishes, incl. salads. We were a party of were lucky to find a table during a weekday and all enjoyed...the excellent dishes. In some moments we felt things were taking too long (like getting the attention of the waiting staff) and it looked like they are understaffed.

Sat outside and waited! Eventually got attended to and asked for soup +drink. The soup was poor quality without bread, but looking around other customers got bread with soup. The drink came half way through me eating the soup. The staff seemed not to care which...is a pity as I had read reasonable reviews
