I have never written a tripadvisor review, but my experience here motivates me. I often overlook bad service when the food is great, unfortunately this restaurant was shocking on both fronts. A very unfriendly and rude 16-year-old was left alone to serve a terrace of 60 plus people. This situation could have been saved by good food. However, the quality of the foods reminded me of a canteen, but the most worrying part was that my partner was served raw pork. We made the waitress aware of it and she offered to cook it further, but at this stage we had enough. After that no one came to our table, so we paid our bill. The owner gave a small discount, but suggested the pig was cooked slowly. I could add this review with many insecure practices regarding Covid; all servers wore their masks under their chin, only 1 beverage menu was used for the entire terrace without disinfecting between tables, food menus were limited and also not disinfected along with common spices. Finally, my partner is a cook and rare if ever complained when he is in a restaurant. He appreciates the work that goes into hospitality, food preparation and customer service. But if food is served that could cause disease, he says something. My advice, I hope this restaurant sees this review and changes its way.

Berrias is one of those little villages you just come across, a little river, some very fat ducks and geese a couple of cafés and a tiny post office. The Café des Artes has been taken over not too long ago and the new owners seem to know what they were doing. There isn't a traditional á la carte menu, though there is a menu du jour at lunchtime. In the evenings the board is brought out with the available dishes and these are by and large local dishes. The saucisson for starter was delicious, the medaille de porc in cream sauce was superb and there was plenty of it. The wine was cheap and cheerful and the whole thing was done well without being too pretentious. We ate outside in the little terraced area next to the river, under the trees with pink pompoms and lights listening to the ducks and being visited by the local cat and dog! Lovely, sating and relaxing.

I saw this restaurant by chance and thought it was as typical as it could be. The next day I tried for lunch and Friday night for her weekly grilled pork. Both times I was very happy! Service was fast and friendly. And everything at a very moderate price.

No comment other than to point out that , as is typical in traditional restaurants, there was nothing that young children might eat. Comes recommended but we didn't stay.
