We had a family day at the beach with friends shortly after Christmas. I was looking forward to some delicious fish and chips but unfortunately ended up at Bottom of the Harbour,  a place aptly named as the bottom of the harbour is where this place deserves to be! I opened up the fisherman's baskets and was immediately concerned as it appeared that they had run a long handled scoop through the bottom of the fryer and pulled up what they found and then dumped it on to some tasteless chips, it was beyond poor. By now desperate I cracked open the salt and pepper calamari and chips and my fears were confirmed. A handful of anaemic parcels once again atop the most tasteless chips I have ever had the misfortune to cross paths with. There was no seasoning on anything, not even on the so called salt and pepper calamari. I immediately returned to the establishment in the hope of trying to salvage this disaster but was told they had no salt and pepper sachets so we simply binned it and stopped at Macca's on the way home, it was a gastronomic catastrophe without peer!

You can't give too much feedback on fish & chips but the issue I had was that their fish was promoted on their menu as 'New Zealand Hake'. We live in one of the best places on earth for fresh seafood, not to mention being right there on Balmoral Beach, we should only be using Australian seafood! I probably wouldn't eat there again because of it. Cost is obviously the reason behind using foreign seafood. Nice staff but this business should be promoting local & Australian.

Went in the 6km scenic walk from the Taronga zoo to Balmoral and developed a hunger. The fish + chips were standard, not bad, not amazing, but Calamari was surprisingly fresh.

I went here most of the decade and did not tire it so far. It may be a bit expensive, but I always enjoy my food and it is in such a great place. Pleasant and informal.
