We traveled to this magical destination with the most spectacular view of the Walensee river and soul stirring mountains. When we arrived, it was early evening, and we were exhausted. We had a lot of luggage and did not want to leave it in the car because we were not certain of its safety. It was a beautiful area, but we had not been there before and we wanted to be careful. My son and I were meeting relatives for the first time, so it was a very important trip for us. We got the bags out of the car and walked to the elevator which was out of service unfortunately for safety reasons. There were no people there, so there was no one to get a hold of at that time. I am handicapped and could not carry the bags and our room was on the third floor. There were steep winding steps, but they were large, and there were good hand grips, which really saved the day for our trek to our room. When we reached the third-floor we opened the door to find another small set of steps, and by the time we got to the room, I didn’t think I would be able to walk anymore for a long time. I was really thirsty and looking forward to some cold water or some of the wine and fruit that was depicted in the ad when we made a reservation. There was nothing to drink at all, but there were two glasses and two chocolate mints. I just used the glass and drank out of the sink. The water was delicious because the water in Switzerland is marvelous, so that took care of that problem. We looked for a little refrigerator, but there was none and we thought we might get something from the restaurant, but it was closed , so we looked at the Majestic view from our balcony and fell asleep. I contacted the owner the next morning and she was very gracious and explained that the restaurant was permanently closed because of a death in the family, and that she had closed the elevator for safety reasons. She then offered to bring us hot coffee and buttered pretzels in the morning. She was quite lovely and very gracious. She did say that we should have told her that I was handicapped, and she would’ve arranged for a different room for us. That was quite lovely but I usually don’t notify people of my handicap ahead of time. I just check the information about the facility before we make a booking. The room was large and very clean, and the view was awe inspiring. The bed was so comfortable and it had controls that allowed you to raise and lower the head and feet to find your own comfort level. The restroom sink was a spacious and had an artistic flair and there was a bidet which was a phenomenal plus. The several uncomfortable things were greatly outweighed by the positives of this day. We wish the owner well and hope for positivity in her life. It might be a good idea to at least put a coffee pot in the room so when you are gazing at the perfect view you can do it with a cup of coffee or tea in your hand. There are other places to eat, so that can be easily dealt with. Thank you for a memorable adventure. Madeleine and Hunter from Maryland in the United States
