Badischer Hof - Table reservation

This is a perfect example for a good meal without specific errors, and also no outstanding element that requires a return trip. We both had one of their carving dishes, and it was well prepared for each one of us. We had no complaints about food or service, and at the same time no one had any kind of rave reviews. While I wouldn't eat there again, I wouldn't look for it and instead try other local options. The only negative I would offer was on the value-added front: we both wanted the baked carving and the carving baked instead of getting simple, caused a price jump of about 50% (from 9 euros to 14 euros). I think that's a little ridiculous.

We wanted typical German food, not expensive and within walking distance to the centre. We asked a few local and they suggested Badisher Hof. It was just what we wanted. We were very happy with the service and the total bill was €36 for three...of us. We had 3 beers and each a main meal. The place was patronised by locals, the atmosphere was quiet and just what we wanted after a long days's journey from Italy, we will go there again. A no frills, no hassle place, with good service.

I chose the place because it wasn't overrun and seemed to offer nice home style cooking. Unfortunately it turned out to be a very average place with respect to the food, the beer and the service. There are a number of places nearby that simply...can't be worse.

Super restaurant. The price-performance ratio is okay. I paid for my 380g Rumpsteak with vegetables and late zle (see picture 28€ and tastefully it was really top. The facility is rustic and cozy. Full recommendation:

Tolle Auswahl. Essen gut bürgerlich. Tolle Speisenauswahl. Sehr hervorzuheben die tollen Salate. Solche Restaurants fehlen bei uns. hauptsächlich im ländlichen Raum.
