halfway between toulouse and carcassonne, pyrene, castres and albi: although central, paradoxically, the position is not favorable as minority in fact. However, this family-run local has turned out to be one of the most rewarding experiences of my trip to this region and alone it can be worth a stop at avignonet: cured, tasty and traditional cuisine, abundant portions, friendly environment, diligent service, honest prices and adequate to the offer, cellar provided with local proposals, monsieur florent cook/owner kind and ready to provide all the explanations required with great competence and availability. what to ask more to a local, especially from who is not of the place?! the next trip in the cathare pays will certainly include a stop at the Auberge du pilori. and if, then, relax from the optimal situation, you drink a few extra glasses... there are also the rooms on the upper floor where to spend the night!

a big road, a sign indicating a restaurant, and we stop there. And the charm works!!Everything starts with the welcome!!A smiling young woman, with a good southern accent and a great smile welcomes us and lets us choose the table that we like best. on the map side, that dishes from the region (cassoulets, gizzard salad, foie gras, etc...)The waitress informs us that everything is done home and we let ourselves be tempted by the cassoulet. a real treat!!!!!!The dessert, home, like everything else, called the lemon pie of gaetan (the chef)? was just at TOP!!Bref, a great place, or it makes good food and stop for a few hours to share good moments with family and or, to digest we are going to take a walk along the channel of the noon that is located at 800m!!!

We stopped at this out of the way restaurant when we moored our canal boat so we could ride into town to have a look around. Having spotted the restaurant we thought we might as well stop for some lunch but we weren't expecting much. To say we were surprised is an understatement. Both our meals were excellent and our hostess was very helpful. We decided then and there that on our return on the Midi canal we would drop in for dinner and we even more impressed with the evening fare. Both of us had lovely tasty meals, a nice wine and we were well looked after by the chef/host. I just wish they would advertise a bit more to get some more people into their excellent out of the way restaurant.

On the roadside, we pass in front without stopping us. Finally in front of the little choice offered in the city, we turn around and install. hyper friendly welcome, complete menu at 13 € extremely correct (wine and coffee included!), very nice atmosphere and calm setting. A nice surprise step.
