Last night I went to dinner with two friends who recently bought a house in the neighboring village. They have eaten at this auberge a number of times and couldn't say enough wonderful things about the food. Well, they were right. I had the scallops in risotto and it was without a doubt one of the best meals I've ever had. The scallops were perfectly cooked - seared on the outside and tender on the inside. And the risotto! Just the right amount of saffron and creaminess. My friends' meals were equally delicious. Will definitely be going there again during my next visit! The only suggestion I would make is to lower the lighting and put on quieter music - Frank Sinatra instead of dance/disco type music.

The restaurant is easy to find in Valseme (around 10km from Villers-sur-Mer) and offers rewarding food. There's a limited menu, which is a good sign on the whole. My wife described the mussels and saffron soup as among the best she's ever had, while my veal melted in the mouth. Bream (dorade) with risotto was just about perfect and the desserts, including a very good ile flottante, are also very good. The decor is modern and very pleasant - the restaurant burnt down a few years ago. A typical fixed menu will set you back around 24E with kids at 8E (e.g. salmon with pasta - thank God not the usual steak hache (burger). I would give it 5 stars if they offered vin en pichet.

Warm, friendly welcome to this clean, modern, attractive dining layout inside a true Normandy colombage building. The food is first class. Good choice of starters and mains and the desserts are very generous. As always.it's the little touches that make all the difference. The amuse-bouche, the understated sauces, the apple chips, the bread rolls; all excellent. The wines are a bit pricey but can be had by the glass alone. Staff were more than happy to help and advise. Tea & Coffee is served during the day. Parking both outside and opposite. We are definitely looking forward to our next visit

After spotting this restaurant whilst staying nearby we booked for lunch on the day we were taking the overnight boat from Ouistreham. Very efficient service. Good €16 three course lunchtime menu with three choices of starter and main course (excellent poulet normande). Wine a bit pricey but on a par with other similar quality French restaurants. Overall a good decision certainly better than having to look for dinner at one of the restaurants near the port.
