FUN IN THE KITCHEN The outskirts of the CIty of Lausanne is known for its charming villages its priaries, its farms, its forests and many fantastic little cafes and gastronomic restaurants which will surprise you. There are little hidden treasures nestled along the Lac Leman,...and throughout the countryside. As we approached this unusual and charming church like structure, in an old village on the outskirts of Lausanne, we encountered the Chef who recognized our hosts, as he was outside smoking a cigarette. One of our friends mentioned a surprise , and we knew then and there that we were in for a real treat! After we joked around with the chef, and I playfully shared with him that I write restaurant reviews, more as a tease than anything else, we were whisked off to a beautifully dressed table in the kitchen. We all opted for a four course prix fixe tasting menu, as opposed to the 6 course which would have been way too much. The dinner began with an amuse bouche, a shot glass of mushroom soup topped with canon powder or ground mushroom flakes, followed by an emulsion of autumn vegetables squash and zucchini served with sauteed fresh foie gras. Then came the fish dish, a filet of ferat served with crunchy strips of salsiifis. We later had the trou normand of cherry and pinot noir followed by a beautiful plate of perfectly roasted venison dusted with speculaas crumbs. The refreshing dessert was a medley of citrus pieces served with little almond squares and tiny meringue drops which helped balance the acidity of the kumquats and citrus. Watching the four savory chefs work alongside the very meticulous pastry chef work their magic with much focus and attention to detail was mesmerizing, all in a good and seemingly healthy atmosphere. The executive Chef/owner of Tout Un Monde, Johann Magne, young father of an 18 month old little girl, was very attentive to my every move; and I had to chuckle as he took what I had told him upon meeting me very seriously. At first he nervously looked my way to gauge my reaction as every course was served. I guaranteed him that I did not write for the NY Times, and as the meal progressed, he relaxed, was less preoccupied, and was very personable and fun. We will treasure the memory of a very good meal, and a fun evening spent with friends!

Probably a new cook teying too hard to be differen but taking it the wrong way. We visited this place 2 years ago. Also back then the service was way too fast, but this time, with probably a new cook, all dishes would receive a...max 5 out of 10. No nice taste sequencing. Our desert was a garlic aubergine icecream with with chocolate sauce. Who wants garlic for desert ??? Food was not good, period. We did not like ANY of the dishes. Also the music from the kitchen, a upbeat techno beat made it to our table a number of times. And all that for chf 660 with the 4 of us, definitely the last time we visited that place. Terrible.

It's clearly a hidden gem for those in the know. In a converted abbey, the dining in the terrace was very charming. Cuisine was inspiring and heart-felt. Service was solid. Food was Delicious. Go for the set course!!! Would go again and again!!!

We had a very nice family dinner in the restaurant and are pleased of our discovery. Our late teenage kids and us enjoyed all; the warm welcome, fantastic food, good service, overall experience and relaxed ambiance. We will be back.
