I stopped here again after visiting this little auvergnat restaurant a number of years ago to see if it had changed at all. I was pleased that it was as good as before when I recently revisited them with a friend on a Monday evening. The place was not particularly crowded, there were the usual habitués, and the 50's atmosphere with the old wooden furniture and chalk boards covered with the day's specials and available wines still prevailed. The wine list is remarkable, however, and the charcuterie and cheese are good choices here. This time I had the the crottin de chavignol to start, the effiloché de boeuf, with an excellent chinon, followed by a lovely tarte aux poires chocolat, which I shared with my friend. The complimentary terrine de campagne that they served us before the meal was a perfect accompaniment to the wine. We were very pleased with the service, but since it wasn't crowded I don't know how it would be during the busy lunch hour. There was no prix-fixe menu, but there were daily specials.

We saved the best for last. On our last night while searching for just the right bistro to sit and enjoy our last meal in Paris we found Au petit chavignol. Boy were we lucky. We had one our best meals in Paris. The wait staff were great. While their English was as limited as our French (well maybe they were better at English) they were able to answer any questions we had with the menu. Two of us had the rabbit, one had duck and one the stuffed cabbage. We were all very pleased with our dishes. The house red wine was excellent, we had two bottles. To top off our meal we all shared the Crepes Suzette, which was prepared at the table. The perfect ending to a perfect vacation. I highly recommend you try this restaurant. You'll love it.

Stopped at this small bistro/wine bar for a late lunch - the place has the feel of an enoteca - a simple menu and vast array of wines by the glass and bottle. We chose the charcuterie and fromage boards to share, the server kindly also brought us some pâté and breads to whet our appetite. Very reasonably priced (€60 for my husband and I, including wine) and would highly recommend for those wanting a light bite and/or a more authentic French snack.

We were recommended to this restaurant by our hotel and we walked just round the corner The service and food were both excellent, though not cheap, but for our last night dinner it was what we both wanted and the ambience was perfect with friendly owners and attentive service. Would definitely recommend, our steaks were superb.
