Myself and my husband visited Atkinsons on Saturday evening as a treat as we had really enjoyed it last time we decided to get fish and chips from here. The prices have gone up a little but it was still amazing food, the food was cooked to perfection. I’ve seen many reviews about the chips being refried but they were perfect when we had them. The only downside to this was the staff members that were serving the customers. There were 2 young men and one young lady who were working. It was clearly very busy but myself and my husband didn’t think they were being quick enough. It took around 5-10 minutes for us to even get served by one of the boys and even then, they didn’t look like they knew what they were doing. £20.60 for two fish and chips is a little extreme but the food was perfect and the fish was lovely. Will be coming back but hopefully staff members will be quicker next time.
Very disappointed. Worst chips ever. About three quarters of the portion was made up of tiny chips which were to crispy to be edible. The rest appeared to be made up of a mixture of refried chips and small proportion of fresh chips. We went back to the shop with the evidence. We were offered a new portion of chips!!!!! But, NO refund. We wondered why there weren’t other customers there. Now we know! We won’t be going back. It used to be a good and reliable source of chips.
We travel 150 mile round trip just for the haddock and chips at least once a month, I suspect the few 1 star reviews are competitors or clowns. The batter of the fish is light and absolutely fantastic as are the chips, I have eaten Fish and Chips all over the UK and these are the best. Off to Australia on 19th November for three months but will be first meal out when we return.
rude and slow staff- This is my local chippy which i visit regularly. Two young men running the counter it took them 15 minutes to even serve me and there was only two people in the shop! forgot my chips which is the one thing i went in for. Will not visit for a while
