Haven't been here for a while and when I found that Redon was closed for the holidays this was a natural fall back.Note to the restaurant - the exterior looks unloved and downright dingy and we came really close to just walking past and going to one of the restaurants at the bottom of the street. Clean the paintwork up, maybe a couple of olive trees in tubs? SOMETHING that says ' Welcome - come in - we care about details here.....'Anyway - so glad we didn't walk past. Decor is good - fine dining touches if a little dated. Service is inexperienced and there are slips - no butter, wine spilt, no offer to take coats. But the food more than made up for it. For 28 Euros you get an amuse, three courses and mignardises. Add wine and coffee and 2 people walk out well under 100 euros for a superb lunch. Starters ( brandade in gaspacho and salmon with beetroot and vanilla puree) were superb - well judged and seasones with bags of flavour. Mains of a sous vide chicken with verveine were cooked to perfection ( i meant to ask the timing and temp but forgot) and the desserts were excellent - a medley of peaches which were sweet without being cloying.Superb - just please do something about the outside - you deserved to be busier than those 3 tables for lunch!

Set in the beautiful old part of town is this classic french restaurant. For 23 euros for 2 courses (28 euros for 3 courses) we chose from 2 etherial starters, either beef parmentier with truffle oil or a tartare of duck with a poached egg. Flavours that left your taste buds overflowing with sensation. Then either a suptuous piece of veal with chanterelles or filet de lieu noir with caramilised endive and an emulsion of cauliflower. You can't speak. Just savour. Then when you think it can't get any better they produce a orange tart with pastry that is as perfect as only a sure footed chef can be.Great coffee and petit fours all at an unbelievable price. You think you've died and gone to heaven!

We stumbled in by chance, but were amazed by the quality and value of the food, from an appetiser of magret de canard and foie gras, amuse bouche of artichoke velouté, through 3 delicious courses, ending with mignardises of a sort of bitter chocolate shot and a mini Madeleine, with a straight out of the oven crispy top and soft bottom, that reminded me of my mother's cakes from my childhood, in a truly Ratatouille moment, all for a very reasonable €28.

A 1 star Michelin in the centre of the old town. Beautifully decorated, attentive staff, outstanding food. An amuse bouche, 2 courses and a palate cleanser for 23 Euros each. Really good value. Haven't eaten so cheaply in such a quality restaurant ever.
