Alt Jena - Table reservation

man, what a snotty place. waited nearly 20 minutes for a waitress who never arrived. tried the one at the downstairs bar with the question what was the beer on taop, and was told i would have to ask my waitress (who was non-existant). told her that, and she said she still could not tell me - and she also had no customers. last time i saw this type pf arrogance to guests was when jena was still part of east germany. maybe that's why they call it "alt jena" - it fits. obviously the new generation hasn't learned anything since either. what a real disappointment. go two doors down to the "kartoffel" restaurant, there the food is fine and there is at least service. "alt jena" - schlechtes ehemaliges d.d.r. bedienung und gast unfreundlichkeit! there are much better choices in jena!!!

Direkt hinter dem Hanfried auf dem alten Markt kann man im Alt Jena gute und typische Thüringer Küche zu fairen Preisen genießen. Im Sommer kann man auch schön draußen sitzen, ansonsten gemütlich auf rustikalen Holzmöbeln auf zwei Etagen innen. Die Bedienung ist umsichtig, freundlich und authentisch. hier ist noch nie etwas schief gegangen. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Wir haben sehr gut gegessen, besonders positiv aufgefallen ist aber der außerordentlich freundliche Service. Man konnte spüren, dass die Menschen dort ihren Job gern machen. Klare Empfehlung!

Wer gerne in einem urigen Lokal günstig und bodenständige thüringische Küche mag ist hier bestens aufgehoben. Auch das Dunkelbier war fein. Doe Bedienung war auch netz, flott und hilfsbereit.

Lovely location in the square. Drank a pleasant pils there. Have to confess I never had the need to go inside the door. Charming waitress.
