The dining floor wasn’t that busy and waiting staff were plentiful, but they took ages to take our initial drink order and then we had to ask where our bottle of wine was after it wasn’t brought to the table. We then asked for a cocktail menu and then nobody ever came back to ask if we wanted to order any. We had to ask to order another round of drinks over an hour later, as nobody ever came back to our table to ask if we wanted another round. The table next to us, who were seated at the same time, had eaten, paid and left before our food had arrived. After an hour had gone by since we ordered our mains, we enquired about how much longer it would be. A staff member informed us that he’d check and then came back and said that he’d spoken to the chefs, but didn’t know why it was taking so long. He said there was “no excuse”. As an apology, he did say he’d take the price of our main meals off the bill. When the food eventually arrived, we asked to order more drinks, which again didn’t arrive and we had to ask where they were. What was more annoying, was the sight of the staff carrying on and laughing behind the bar, while we waited for service and everything to arrive. We also thought that one of the waiting staff wasn’t sober. Overall, service from every member of staff was absolutely terrible and waiting times for everything was unacceptable. Food was fine. Nothing worth shouting about. I’d never go back or recommend anybody eat there.

great service of the girl in the restaurant that served us, saved the day here! we came quite late (about 8.40 clock on Sunday) but she said we could order. the pub is a wonderful old building with high ceilings and pockets of character. the restaurant is separated to the bar so that they get a bit more rest and rest. eating was tasty, although we were served the main course at the same time as our starter! only comment on the otherwise wonderful eating is that the Scotch egg starter comes with senf mayo, although the menu does not mention it. the article in the menu below mentioned it, so we think it is strange to leave it out of the egg. mustard mayo is one of those contingents that is a bit like marmite, and my partner had to scrape it off. we went through with our drinks after the meal and spent another half an hour or so enjoying the atmosphere in the bar.

Visited here for a Sunday roast following good reviews/coverage on social media but unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. We were a group of 6 with a booking and we all arrived promptly. Took a while for the staff to take our order and then it was approximately an hour for the food to arrive (no starters, just mains). Other tables seated after us received their food before us. After finishing our food we were told they need the table back and we'd have to leave so no opportunity for dessert.
