ALEGRIA Bistro Bodega

We went based on the good reviews and were a little disappointed. You have to pre-book on market night (Weds) otherwise you won’t get a table. They have sittings at and Our waitress was very pre-occupied and not particularly friendly. She didn’t explain...anything to us on the menu and made us feel rushed and an inconvenience when getting her attention for more drinks. The menu is in Spanish and French, so we needed a little help understanding some of the dishes that we couldn’t translate ourselves; but this wasn’t forthcoming. Our waitress just seemed a little irritated with us! Our dishes came in dribs and drabs mins apart), and one of our dishes didn’t arrive at all. I’m sure on a quieter night you would have their full attention and a much better experience, so based on the food alone you should give it a try (but avoid market night

My wife and I have been coming to Sommières since and since last April we spend a lot more time here. Since last June, whenever in Sommières, we spend an evening a week at ALEGRIA Bistro Bodega – we have always been made to...feel very welcome. My French can best be described as being “passable”. The couple who run the Bodega have always been very helpful. To “Mark P” who posted an earlier review, I would ask you revisit Alegria and I guarantee you will be welcomed and have a good evening. We enjoy the evenings with live music and the ones without. The atmosphere within the Bodega, feels right! It’s welcoming, it’s friendly. I like food! I particularly like Tapas, I’ve visited and reviewed other Tapas eateries – this place is good. Visit it, sit back and soak up the atmosphere and have an enjoyable evening.

From what I understand, this is a relatively new restaurant operated by a novice restaurateur. The place was empty when we arrived, we were thirsting for some delicious Laungdouk rose so we decided to stop in. Every table but two were reserved as indicated by...the white scraps of paper with client names written. We were seated at a table for without a reservation taped to the table. Everything was going fine until we ordered our class of wine. Once the wine arrived, a reservation was taped to our table and some words murmured that we didn't understand. We were miffed. A waitress came by minutes later, pointed to the paper and made it clear we should leave soon. Very poor manners. I kept the reservation taped to our table. Apparently for guests named Caruso. See photo. Laughable.

Fantastic food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Sommières. The aubergine with honey was particularly delicious, as were the crispy prawns.
