"We were travelling from Roscoff to Paris and decided to stop in Alencon for lunch. After looking on Tripadviser we booked A Kaboul and were not disappointed. Afghanistan-French cuisine, different and very good, a nice change. Service good easy parking at the location."

The quality of the dishes, the ingredients and the recipes is unquestionable. The dishes were full of flavor but never really spicy (it's really agreeable to find a chef that really knows how to use spices). The accompaniment really brought something to the dish rather than were added haphazardly. The skewers were really well cooked. This restaurant ranks among my personal favourites. The service is professional, attentive and not overbearing which is refreshing. But I wouldn't say they were overly welcoming either. My only concern was the price (if I were more well off, I would certainly eat there more regularly). But the dishes are generous and the quality is worth the extra cost.

My teenage son chose this restaurant for us to try on an overnight stay in Alencon. The staff were very welcoming and provided us with menus in both English and French. The food was outstanding; not overly spicy but full of flavour and beautifully presented. We had pakoras, filo chicken and samboosas to start; followed by kabila agneau (super tender lamb) assiette de bouef and the afghan burger. Portion sizes were big enough that even the teenagers didn't require dessert! The food was not cheap but reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of the food served. There is also a children's menu for those travelling with younger families.

Having translated the entire menu into English for a friend we settled on some nice option with a nice glass of white for me. The place seems popular with the locals too which is always a good sign.Service was polite, but they seemed a little stretched on the night as it was a little bit slow. They kindly spoke a bit of English when they realised my French was not up to the quick fire speed they were using!

The otchi (like a soup) is excellent but be warned it is filling wife had scallops which was very good, We both had the moussaka which was more like a lasagne but would highly recommend it ,we had a carafe of red wine and a soft drink and the bill was under 50 euros ,i am sorry to say the size of the dishes left no room for desserts. Staff very friendly and attentive
