It's just the classic: go to the country to go good food. In our case, in the restaurant Espenhof in Rheinhessen, a winery, also with accommodation. Reservation recommended, parking behind the house. Already the wine garden (the beer garden of a winery in the yard of the restaurant looks so that you want it to sit out immediately summer. But the cosy-modern interior invites you to stay. The wooden tables are covered with pair runners and small floral decorations, the service in the evening is partly shy, partly too little, but always absolutely perfect in the handling of the guest. The card fits on an A4 side and is therefore also referred to as a food leaf. Three appetizers, two intermediates (which can also be upgraded to the main course at an additional price), five main dishes (calbsbäckchen, Schweinkamme, Grats, Rumpsteak, cod); Prices from 16 to 26€ and three desserts. Three courses can average 40 euros. A five-course menu of 55€ was also offered. First we got a funny coat. Beautiful fresh bread, even different varieties and three kinds: Greek olive oil (not necessarily my favorite, fresh herbs cucumber and really delicious thyme salt. A beautiful and matching game! Then I chose Duo from the parsley root as an appetizer. Unfortunately this came very shortly after greeting from the kitchen. What has been described above has been confirmed here: on fine appearance of foods added value. The preliminary soup came in a transparent glass: at the bottom a bright layer, over it a green foam, decorated with parsley. As good as in taste. Soft but aromatic. My main course was pink roasted ruts with water-strudel, currants and beech mushrooms at €26. It's really nice, it's hard. Delicious meat, tastefully good, supplemented with mushrooms and berries. I didn't miss a dessert. Because of the amount, the portions were suitable for a dinner. Praise also by my wife for freshness, preparation, optics and taste of her food, the arable salad with grapes and the pig with herbal crust! I felt good at it, it was all funny, was fresh and tasty, but the decisive spark did not want to skip me at this surely above average place.

once and not again. we were about a week ago with friends to dinner and the restaurant espenhof visited the first and surely also the last time. the location we liked very well and the service was attentive. I would also like to mention all the positive things. we chose two vegetarian dishes: the Buddah bowl with grilled vegetables was imaginary, very clear in the amount and was served without baguette brut. we are not much more and we like to pay a euro, but here the price-performance ratio was not at all. for the time has sweet and salat season, there are already three for a few salat leaves (almost without dressing) and not even three forked grilled vegetables with a spoon parboiled rice 13€. the kokos mango curry was tasteful ok, the portion but also very small and overpriced with 16€. we think we don't.

Once again at the Espenhof there was no menu for the last time. To decorate the modern style with some places in the courtyard and morning breakfast room from the hotel. friendly and accommodating service. nothing overcrowded, but still eat up. regional products, seasonally adjusted in excellent preparation. the price-performance ratio is also true. in the evening a reservation is recommended, for lunch you can also see on these wise.
