This quaint little gem of a bistro owned by Patricia and Jaques, is located in Vincennes just a short walk from the Chateau Vincennes.. We arrived late for the lunch seating but Patricia welcomed us and gave a detailed description of the days specials along with the offerings of the regular menu. We settled on the lunch special offered at 19 Euro. What a spectacular choice it was. Our appetizer was scallops in a flaky pastry topped with caviar and a fresh lettuce & tomato salad. Main course was a perfectly seared tuna steak with all the quintessential sides. All complimented with a crisp white wine. To add to our wonderful experience we were presented with a specially prepared plate served personally to our table by the chef to welcome us to France. It felt like family welcoming us home. Great service, Excellent fresh cuisine, Friendly owners...5 stars!
We visited this restaurant because of its reviews - so glad we did! Only open for lunch and so busy. We arrived at about 12.40 on a Monday and we only just got a table. We chose the fixed price menu, a starter of smoked salmon salad and a main course of filet of sea bass. Both courses were delicious. The starter came with a slice of very dark brown bread which clearly came from the boulangerie next door. The sea bass was beautifully cooked with 'petit legume' and some beautiful mashed potato. I could not resist a desert and went for the 'cafe gourmand', a trio of deserts accompanied by a cup of coffee. A superb ending to a delicious lunch.
