We were seated at 7:30 pm in a virtually empty restaurant and ordered the fixed price 'Menu'.The starter arrived promptly but by 9:15, one hour and a quarter later there was still no sign of the main course. Some French diners nearby had had an equally long wait and complained to the owner. My French is not that good but I think he said it was very busy. This was greeted with some derision. The place had filled up by this time but we were watching diners who had arrived after us finishing their desserts and coffees. Two French couples gave up waiting and asked for their bill. Their mains arrived just then but they sent them back.I then asked for our bill, paid for the starters and wine we had had and left. The long wait for food was bad enough but what was worse was the lack of explanation/apology from the owner or the suggestion of an alternative dish. I suspect that having ordered the 'menu' we were low value customers and 'a la carte' customers were getting service before us. Totally unacceptable.
