The Golden Lion Rainford

After a long wait for our very average meals, two of our party order the Eton Mess. They were tiny when they arrived, despite costing £6.25 each. But by far the worst bit for me was the fact that it wasn 't just warm though should definitely have been cold) it was really hot in places. It was literally defrosted frozen fruit and squirty cream, which immediately dissolved. No merengue pieces whatsoever! What a poor effort! Mentioned it when paying the bill and was simply told it will be passed on .

Visited today for the first time a group of friends travelling from all over the NW and Rainford seemed pretty central. What a delightful find The Golden Lion was! Gorgeous decor, helpful and friendly staff and fabulous food at a reasonable price. Highly recommended by us all. We will be back! Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
