We arrived on time for a confirmed OpenTable booking, only for the guy who met us to say that we did not have a booking, with the implication that we had not actually made a booking. When I showed him the acknowledgment from OpenTable and pressed further it appeared that the reason for this is that they had not received the booking email from OpenTable for some reason, something he said had happened previously and the restaurant is looking into the matter . Not very reassuring and I was rather put off by the offhand and slightly victim-blaming nature of this exchange. I hope that this will not be my experience again if I book through OpenTable! Anyway, to give him his credit he did find us a table and the rest of the meal progressed in the normal way with excellent food in a lovely ambience with friendly service. Might be better to book direct rather than use OpenTable until they have sorted out their problems, though.
