You know that your bookmark list is long when you only finish reviews when you receive messages that close locations. Long before the magic of my leek, I was on my way here when I was in the area. More precisely, it was the only Thai food in the area. I followed TDLG, but didn't know his parents had the place until a few months ago, somehow interesting and small worldly. Décor is quite old, almost ratty, with certainty dated, also for the 1. Gen 1. Restaurant with Asians, I think they really only put their efforts into their food. Service is met or mis, not mistake the owners kindness for service, staff is in service in the dark. Half of the time I never get a spoon for my soup type of service or the look of some staff completely annoyed. The prices are very good, but the portions are small. They keep the amounts of ingredients well in line with traditional Thai and that with the ingredients and dishes are very authentic. They stick to the classic “thai spice mirror extrapolated for West/White palate”. I'm not too much of a fan of spices, but when I come here with friends (maybe not asian) and split dishes, we see a noticeable difference in spices between our dishes, based on who orders them. If it's still mild, what I like. Order yourself from your usual. The Papaya salad is excellent, textures, color, but again spices, order in spice mirror. You will notice that most dishes have a bit too many peanuts (they are liberal here). Pad Thai is a little heavy but well plated, not mixed and topped. Love the darker sauce used in the pad se ew, but it can “brick”ish when packed to go and warmed up to the next day. Love their liberal use of Broccoli and they have some super classic dishes. Your liquid dishes are good, Tom ka, red and yellow curry. Great balance on soups, light and rich, scrimps for days. Perfectly divisible. The red curry is not thick as a stew, but is alive and well mixed. Yellow curry is fairly smooth, light and perfect when you plan not to eat. Spicy beef noodle is classic, not traditionally modern fair. I come back for the story I have here, it's a classic Thai in the area, but not something I'm going out of my way, extra star because I'm in a beautiful mood.
The food is definitely good here.... just the right amount hot. I like it quite spicy and got the middle pineapple curry. It was very delicious and my only complaint is that it should have been served with more steamed rice as the curry itself was quite soup. Even larger pieces of pineapple would have been nice. 6 good shrimps were in the curry, could have been a few more.... but it was a good meal. The decor is old and running.... a renovation of Robert Irvine really needs bad! Oil The service was excellent. I was the only customer so I wouldn't expect anything less, but it definitely delivered.
