Terrain Cafe - Reservar uma mesa

My friend and I had a reservation recently for two for late Sunday brunch. The very young hostess wanted to seat us in the sunny portion of the restaurant. However, my friend is very sensitive to direct sunlight and breaks out in hives when exposed for more than a few minutes. It took a while to get the hostess'attention to make the request to be seated in the covered and darker portion of the restaurant and the hostess seemed to be less than pleased with our simple request when we were finally able to make it. There was a table for two at the very front of the restaurant that had just been vacated. We asked if we could be seated there. We were told yes, but that we would have to wait for it to be cleared. We waited while the bus boy cleared it, but failed to wipe down the table. It would have taken the bus boy, the hostess, or the manager, who was floating about, two minutes to get it wiped down so we could then be seated. We waited 5, then 10, then 15 minutes with no check-in or reasonable accommodation at the cleared table. My friend and I agreed we were no longer interested in waiting and left. I was embarrassed, as I had told my friend what a wonderful restaurant this is. The staff was less than customer-oriented, uninterested in being helpful or accomodating, and bordering on rude. The ambience is great there, but the food is over-priced for what it is and the service was abysmal. We went around the corner to the Outback. In juxtaposition to Terrain, Outback staff was quick to greet us, beyond courteous, asked where we'd like to be seated, and quickly seated us there without issue. The waitress was well-trained, exceptionally engaging, accommodating, professional, and polite. She made helpful menu suggestions. And she was very attentive thoughout our meal. The meal was very good. I had one of the chicken appetizers and one of their salads. It was very tasty and affordable and the portion size was huge. I took almost half my meal home in a box for a second meal the next day. My friend enjoyed the coconut shrimp and a salad and was pleased with her meal as well. We ended up spending about half of what we would have paid at Terrain and had a much better and more comfortable dining experience at Outback. I had planned on buying a few plants after we'd eaten at Terrain. But I was not about to spend my hard-earned money at a business whose staff did not care to be in any way accommodating or helpful to me and my friend. My advice is to skip the upscale ambience at Terrain and enjoy the far better experience at Outback or many of the other fine restaurants in the Brandywine Valley area.

Ordered a wild mushroom frittata with a side salad. The only mushrooms in my dish were presliced white buttons from the grocery. The salad was an expired bag mix, half rotten and inedible. Brought it up to our server and they just said oooooh yeah... before walking away. The bread is still delicious. I 'm not sure what happened to this place. It used to be great. We 'll certainly never go back.

We absolutely love Terrain, the garden center is our primary go to and have yet to try their cafe. But their pricing on plants, pots and all the extras is extremely fair and the quality of their plants is spectacular. One of the few garden centers I can find healthy carnivorous plants and the bug away incense sticks. They're absolute life savers!

I absolutely love this restaurant. The decor and the food is amazing. The manager Drew and the hostess station girls and waitresses were fabulous.

The Guava Elderflower Mimosa was superb! Always a wonderful, welcoming atmosphere. Truffle fries were scrumptious as well.
