When my husband heard about this breakfast place, I couldn't negotiate. Things to know: It's just cash and there's an ATM inside Expect a Wait. It is better on weekdays, but even with no one before us we waited for 30 minutes (the waiter app said less than 5) There are no outside seats, unlike what a photo leads me to believe. I am shocked how few places in Hawaii have seats. Between my husband, my mother and me we have tried: Since Big Mok (Loco Moco) Haupia pancake Kalua hash and eggs with Fried Rice Punalu'u Sweet Bread French Toast (extended page selection for Kalua hash) Macaroni Salat POG Juice My favorite thing was the French toast, followed by Loco Moco. Both were very good. I'm not a big pancake, but the Haupia pancakes were pretty good. There were tuna in the Makkaroni salad I'm not a fan of. The Kalua hash was the worst we have. I didn't taste a pig at all. It tasted like houseries. Everyone talks about how big the parts are, but I didn't find them that big. The pancakes are huge, but unlike that, most things were about the size I would expect. If you love breakfast, this is a good place to check.
Expect to wait for about an hour, depending on the size of your party. We thought the Hawaiian French toast, loaded pommes, taro and tripe stews and short ribs were delicious. I do not recommend ordering the Portuguese sausage unless you get the house variety; $6 for a subpar trading was not worth it. I would have given 4 star factoring in the wait, except the service was amazing! Each server apologised for every moment we had experienced and was friendly and helpful. This café is not cheap, but if you are out of town and want to try a variety of good Hawaiian food, then it is a nice choice.
Definitely on the replay list! Go for the Big Mok Loco moco if you want a variety of meat and a meal to keep all day! The Kahlua hash was tasty, but the consistency was different than I expected, but still had a good taste! The Omelett volcano was well filled with vegetables and the pancakes with which it came were ENORMOUS!!! The prices were very reasonable! Come hungry and be satisfied! Our waiting was 21 minutes for a table of 4, not bad at all. At 9:30, beautiful benches are out there in the shadow. Great Yelp waiting list.
Cash only, amazing place for breakfast, brunch, or lunch! We ordered the moco loco and ribeye. Service was excellent. There’s a way to get on the wait list via yell ahead of time, I highly recommend you do that! We also ordered a banana macadamia pancake which was to die for, pancake heaven! Look at their operating hours before you visit too.
