Taberna- Tierra De Olivos

The hotel is fine, the rooms are spacious, well decorated, expertly attended to, and cleaned properly. The reception staff are delightful, the price is reasonable. The dinner staff are friendly and attentive. The breakfasts are terrible!! Either there is something wrong with the heating cabinets or nobody is actually paying attention to what is going on. I have had breakfast here the last two days, the cold meats are ok, but only just, there are no boiled eggs and no tomatoes, and the fruit today was tinned and accompanied by some rather brown pineapple, the sausages huddle together in their pot because they are so cold, whilst the bacon is a baby, milky white and fat who has never seen the inside of a frying pan, both are, or should be, overseen by the scrambled eggs who are very old indeed, and therefore presumably very wise! The toast is very grumpy, since it does not get to see any butter, only margarine! Not the best way to start your day! This needs serious attention, it is letting down what is otherwise a good set up. I have dined there once, and was probably unlucky. I reserve judgement on the dinner. Come on! You are much better than this! In most respects this is a top-notch hotel with a good atmosphere, this can easily be fixed, action today! Update Last night the restaurant was closed, a coach party was being fed in the downstairs area and I could, if I wished, join it. The hot cabinets were in action again, and the food was the same chicken in bechamel sauce ! that I had eaten two days before, this time with rice, served canteen style. It was not good! Solution? visit the excellent Restaurante Savorno in Valencina de las Concepcion, 4 mins by car, a young enthusiastic crew, very good chef, and the best lubina/garlic mayonnaise I have eaten, ever! enough for 3 however! The hotel is isolated, and this creates problems of course, a sensible approach is to produce a strictly limited, but superior, menu at a realistically high price. If the food is good enough people will come, I promise you they will come. You should not stay in a hotel to discover that the restaurant is closed in order to feed a coach party. Everything else is really very good, don 't leave this to fester, get on top of it now, for the summer an outside grill will work if you don 't have enough customers! but it MUST be good enough to differentiate it from the competition!
