The 3 of us came here for lunch for the first time. We didn't know what to expect and weren't disappointed. All of us ordered the newest menu item sashimi soba. Our server highly recommended it and we were all happy we did. It was delish! It was a bowl of green tea soba noodles with assorted small slices of sashimi mixed in with assorted salad greens on top. This is served cold. Something different than the old standby of bento boxes or combo roll specials. We were told to mix in the hot sauce with a soya type of marinade. That tasted even better. The others ordered Gomaae which was a mini appetizer. Not bad as they commented. They also had the Hamachi Kama which is yellowtail collar, the piece of fish behind the head and gill. I tried a piece which wasn't dry tasting and cooked perfectly. We also saw Japanese Pizza' on the menu. Will have to try that another time. What I loved was the fact that you can order black rice instead of plain rice with the sushi or rice dishes for only a buck more. Good location that's just past Gilmore and Hastings heading east on Hastings. Can't wait to try the other interesting dishes. Parking is available on the side streets. It was a busy place at lunch.

I have only just found out that the owners have changed at it all makes perfect sense. I used to consider it a personal victory if I didn't visit this place 5 times a week. It was amazing! The last 6-7 times I have eaten here, I was so incredibly let down. They serve poor quality sushi that is poorly made. Tonight, my sushi roles did not even have rice all around it and it was split open, spilling on the plate, by the time it arrived at my table. Sashimi pieces are small and not cut properly. Both amateur mistakes, especially when they are at least 30% more expensive than the surrounding sushi options. Be aware, they nickle and dime you with every opportunity. The service used to be the most welcoming place to sit and enjoy dinner, and now I can think of about 9 other sushi places I'd rather be in Burnaby Heights alone. The new owners have completely missed the boat and they should absolutely be thinking of hiring a new sushi chef ASAP before a locals revolt! The fish did taste fresh, so I thought 2 star was fair.

I have visited this sushi restaurant multiple times which speaks volumes as I only go back to places I like a lot. There are many sushi places in Burnaby but this is the only one I come back too all the time. They have great variety for sushi rolls and big, fresh pieces of sashimi and got a great price. Their staff are excellent and very attentive and always say "hello" when you enter and "bye" when you leave. One time, they even held the door open as we left the restaurant which made me feel welcome and is one of the many reasons why I always go back. The restaurant is small and always have a line up during peak dinner times. This only adds to how great this place is. If you want great sushi and a great atmosphere, this is the place you want to visit.
