Shingle Inn - Capalaba Park

Comfortable seating is all this eatery has to offer, as a family we called in to have brunchYou have to go up to the counter to order and pay just like so many places of this type of none service cafe. The menu is set with the many 'options ' costing a lot extra should you choose. The 'Big Breakfast " was not a big breakfast, very little on the dish to support such a claim, No sausage No hash brown, nothing but the normal items expected on a regular bacon and egg breakfast offering, of course if you wanted you could Order the "extra"items you'd expect to have on a Big Breakfast and pay more for them,, this meal isn't cheap and it isn't what you'd expect either, the B.L.T. Is another example of meanness from the creators of this cafés menu, l chose thick Turkish toast because your given a choice of breads, watch out because, Yes you pay extra for so called specialist bread, the sandwich filling was mean at best, l small piece of bacon, thin tomato and a little lettuce without much mayo that l could see was not good. The pot of tea was small and weak. I mentioned my disappointment over the Big breakfast only to have the owner come to our table and angrily point out it was a franchise and he Had to adhere to the strict menu on offer or he'd lose his business, ok point taken but not a professional approach to customer service from someone who should know better. All round disappointing experience.

Great coffee, lovely relaxing surrounds, this is my little treat café. The manager is very accommodating and ensures customers receive very good meals. I'm strictly gluten free & have various food sensitivities but there are great options here & I always receive a bit extra since GF bread is so tiny. This is such a thoughtful touch & really appreciated. Service is usually pretty good at the cash register. There are yummy GF sweets too!!

If you love to "People Watch", while you take a break from shopping, The Shingle Inn in Capalaba park Shopping Centre is the place to do it! Choose the Huge comfortable lounge chairs in front of the restaurant, order a delicious snack or pastry delight from the menu and sit back and enjoy the passing parade of "people passing!" The food is affordable, the setting relaxing and staff friendly!What more could you want!

Whether you want a meal or simply a coffee break the Shingle Inn is the place to go for great atmosphere, great food, tea and coffee and great friendly staff. Try it - you won't be disappointed...

Very enjoyable break. The butterscotch and white chocolate scones are incredible. Staff were very pleasant to deal with.
