First time visiting this San Sai location. We 've been going to San Sai in Pasadena for years and we love it! It 's been our favorite Japanese fast food spot. So we spotted this San Sai on Firestone Blvd. in Downey, and decided to check it out. JJ ran in and came out, saying let 's eat here. He said it looks likes the same menu as Pasadena, and the interior looked inviting. We each ordered our go-to favorites. I ordered the salmon teriyaki bowl with the Sumi (cabbage) salad, and JJ ordered his usual Tempura Plate with the Sumi salad, and instead of the second salad, he orders Miso soup. Prices seemed a bit higher from what I remembered from Pasadena (although we haven 't been there in awhile), but still reasonable. Service was good and interior was clean and cheerful. We didn 't have to wait too long for our order to be ready. Food was very good. Presentation was beautiful. My only comment about the food was that the steamed rice was slightly on the mushy side but passable. Thoroughly enjoyed a nice dinner! Of interest was the fact that JJ rated his Tempura higher than the Pasadena location because he said that it absolutely did not affect his gastric reflux in a negative way, which was excellent! Recommended. Give it a try!
