Bombay Palace impresses me a little more every time I go there, so much so that I would rate it as not just the best Indian restaurant in Linz but, quite simply, one of my favourite restaurants overall.Although it is always full, we were not turned away at the door when we arrived without a reservation. Instead, we were asked to wait a few minutes to see what they could do to fit us in. Once seated, the service was superb (rivalling the finest dining establishments).I started with the vegetable samosa, which was absolutely delicious. Not sure of the portion, I asked for a second plate in case my friend wanted to share. The samosa was served, cut in half and served on two plates, both beautifully garnished. Top points there. With lamb not being a common dish on Austrian menus, we opted for two lamb dishes and decided to share. The way the food is served in individual pots makes this easy. Dil Pasand Gosht Masala is fried lamb in a creamy cashew and sesame Sauce (€14,90) and “Royal Bombay Palace” is the head chef’s secret recipe (€16,40.) We mopped it all up with the best garlic Nan I've ever had, and washed it all down with a couple of Indian beers.Lamb is generally an expensive meat, so I didn't find the prices extreme.A word of advice though - be sure to book.

I went to the BP a year ago and thought it was one of the best places I have been to in Europe for a real Indian. Having worked in India extensively over the past 10 years I consider myself fairly knowledgeable when it comes to Indian cuisine. As I was travelling through Linz again I couldn't wait to go back to the BP. OMG, how things have changed. The menu was alarmingly devoid of a number of dishes, but nevertheless I ordered a chicken tikka masala and some peripheral dishes. To my nightmare the chicken was not Tandoori it was simply fried chicken in a sauce. It was tough and was not a good cut. The manager apologised and offered me an alternative, lamb curry. Now, it is very difficult to get lamb right in a curry as it's usually a bit chewy, unless you go to Benares in Mayfair, I tried it anyway but as I thought, If the chicken was not good why would the lamb be any better. So, they offered me a coffee which I accepted but then they charged me for it. Well, I didn't go there for any freebies I went there because the food was good, well maybe last year it was. That's it, hi to all my followers. Andy

This was a bad night for us the Bombay Palace. The drinks were undrinkable, the service slow (After about 20mins the waiter told us our meals were coming, but we waited another 25mins. In this time which they produced a starter meant for another table, which was removed without apology.) As far as the menu went ... it was limited and unoriginal, the rotis bland, and the rice unseasoned. All in all, this was the worst Indian meal I've had in many, many years. I've given it 1 star for just showing up! (i.e being open on a Sunday, when many of Linz' eateries are closed.)

Looked inviting and lots of locals eating there which is usually a good sign. We went here because it was one of a small handful of restaurants open on a Sunday. We waited a very long time for food , over an hour and the service was pathetic. I received another tables meal which was taken away without apology. Food was average when we finally received it. A local couple told us the owner was away, I think the place must have fallen apart.
