While in Okotoks for business last Friday (March 17th) morning we decided to stop into Ricky's for a "quality" breakfast. Instead we left the restaurant knowing we will probably never even consider eating there again! In particular; most disappointing, bordering on disgusting, was the breakfast bowl that consisted of 2 runny, slimy, undercooked cold scrambled eggs, served over cold chunks of potato that tasted old, quite possibly left over from dinner the night before. The cheese "sauce" was watery and tasteless, perhaps made from a package of powder?! Oops must have forgot to the "mixed fresh peppers" because they were definitely not in the mix as promised in the menu. The chunks of tomato were so ripe they bordered on the verge of garbage fortunately they were cut far too large for a breakfast bowl mix so quite easy to pick around. Speaking of cut to large; anyone that cooks or eats Chorizo sausage should/would know it is a sausage best served crumbled. The Chorizo sausage in this breakfast bowl was sliced thick and browned to the point of being dry, most disappointing!! The breakfast bowl was topped off with some grated cheese, but the food was so cold it didn't stand a chance of melting. Here's a last hint, even just a dash of salt and pepper will make a difference in such a bland disappointing dish.We suspect the breakfast bowl was cold because the cook was waiting for the equally cold, dry toast?! We couldn't help but overhear the cook and the "manager" arguing that ideally the toast should have been served with the breakfast bowl. Sorry, we side with the manager on this one, definitely a good idea to time the toast to the meal (insert eye roll here)The breakfast club sandwich was equally as disappointing, it along with the shredded hash browns were also cold. The sandwich might be better described and called a fried ham and egg sandwich with cold cheese. Don't expect a hearty breakfast sandwich, the star of this sandwich was definitely the dry, cold toast!Even more disappointing was the server, honestly we really weren't sure who exactly that was? The "manager" sat us at a table, gave us our menus, then told us she would send our server over but really other than take our order our "server" had nothing to do with us. She did however seem to enjoy walking around the restaurant singing along with the radio for us and the sparse other customers to "enjoy"...Funnily enough, when the "singing server" walked by our table she spotted the breakfast bowl breakfast barely touched, pushed aside. She didn't think to ask; was there a problem with your breakfast, instead, she actually asked if we wanted it wrapped up to take home?!Sadly we would not, could not recommend this restaurant to anyone, EVER!!! We're not sure what exactly has changed over the past couple months but we can say the change has not been for the better.
