The atmosphere is really nice and indeed the owners are willing to do and to do well. However it is clear that there is still a lot to be improved expecially in the menu, in the description of the dishes and in the organization of the time. They do not bring the menu at the table, they use blackboards which is a very nice idea. However they do not provide description of the dishes and some plates results totally different than what you would expect. Also timing should be mentioned expecially when for some dishes it is necessary to wait more than 20 minutes. The client might be willing to wait but needs to know in advance. The type of food is nice. However still to be improved.
A very good surprise. My husband and I were just walking around in Osten when saw the restaurant and decided to try it. What a great surprise! The owner had served us and she was very friendly. As non german speakers, she was very kind to explain everything in their menu. To star, we had a fresh soup (Melon with basil ice cream exotic and amazing). The main dish, I had a calf with a soft mustard sauce and noodles. My husband chose the traditional Zürcher Geschnetzeltes, calf, mushrooms and wonderful rösti potatoes the best Zürcher Geschnetzeltes we have eaten in Switzerland.
Travelling to Toscane, we stopped in the lovely city Olten to eat and sleep. Searched on Tripadvisor for a good resto walking distance from our hotel. Food is very good Zollhaus. The quality is superb and they add some nice special flavours to their dishes. Staff is very friendly and helpfull. They have a very large wine card as well. You can sit inside or outside on a small terasse. Just pitty that the terasse is next to a busy road.
We were here for a family lunch/party. The service was outstanding and very friendly (also speaks English). The starter and dessert were both great. While our main (salmon with asparagus and potatoes) looked great, it had an amount of salt in there that I probably don't consume within a week. The atmosphere of the private dining place is excellent, too.
