Restaurant Uhu - Reservar uma mesa

October 14th, 2012 - Took the train from Zurich to Linthal station. 10.30 am to 12.30 pm. Awesome ride. From the station, a short brisk walk to the tram cable car and up the mountain we went to Braunwald town. From there a picturesque walk to Uhu restaurant. Spent the entire afternoon with 10 friends on the deck overlooking the beautiful scenery. Food was excellent and showcased the local cuisine (meat platter was my choice.) Great draft beer and pricing of food was reasonable. Service was excellent. They did not rush us to leave and once it got chilly on the deck we moved inside for hot beverages and shooters. Very accommodating staff. For a day excursion and lazy weekend afternoon, I highly recommend Uhu and the surrounding location.

Day trip to Braunwald was really made for us by the view, relaxed lunch with quality food and service at reasonable prices provided by the Uhu. It's out of Braunwald village, which is only accessible by a short but criminally steep mountain rack railway ride (inexpensive,) and is reached after an easy 10 minute walk from the top station through to green fields (snow slopes in wintertime) with fantastic views into the Glarner Alps from the sun terrace. Unhurried dining with well cooked food (we tried the Burger and Ziegerhörnli (a Glarnerland speciality) - all to perfection. Seems to be a popular restaurant and well patronised by Swiss holiday makers and daytrippers. Children are welcome. Recommended without hesitation.

I chose this place after reading reviews and got totally disappointed with food! Cheeseburgers were not home made, but industrial frozen ones! Someone who knows the difference can see it, taste it and not like it! Wild berries desert was fine, but creme brûlée was horrible - sour, like they put lemon zest in it, and served with strange varieties of fruits (strawberry, apple slices) - not sure what for! If you like your food tasty I would skip this place!

Very nice restaurant,very friendly and professional staff and excellent food! Beef tartar was perfect,beef filet and risotto with rucola,taleggio and serrano prosciutto was the best meal i hade in very long time!The place to go in Braunwald

Beautiful location,Top quality food and service.Perfect and simple little restaurant style with fabulous views from the patio desk.Highly recommended
