Restaurant le Chalet

I have never written a Tripadvisor review before, but my experience at Chalet de Gruyeres made me want to write an honest, and nevertheless rather negative review. Stale, dry, low quality bread, probably the cheapest they could get at Aldi, average cheese (despite being overpriced)...but most of all, terrible service. The bread was served sliced, I kindly asked the waitress to cut it in cubes, which she refused to do as it's supposed to be eaten this way', apparently. While eating, the other waitress came to our table unrequested, and turned our caquelon off. Never had such an experience in a restaurant. Please avoid this place.

We've been recommended to visit this particular restaurant after visit the Gruyeres Castle and the cuisine of this restaurant just made the effect of out continued stay in the Castle. We felt as if we are in ancient times and are inhabitants of the Castle....Meals are simply but ancient and very tasty. We've been recommended to take fondue and meringues for desert. We love that and other meals we've ordered. We recommend you to book the restaurant beforehand. We did it on the way to the Castle just asked to book a table for us and that we will come in hours.

Had a lovely fondue here, shared with friends (the whole essence of fondue eating) and made naturally enough from the fantastic Gruyere cheese which abounds in these parts. The chalet was really well patronised on the lunchtime of our visit so there was bags of...atmosphere and a cosy buzz. Our window table had a beautiful view down across the valley below. Service was professional and efficient as you'd expect in Switzerland. A piece of old Switzerland although menu items were listed in several European languages including Russian!

We went to this restaurant after reading the reviews, however I must say that after our visit we were a little disappointed, the location is very good and the fondue was also good (though the menu has no variety), nevertheless we were surprised by the...behavior of the waitresses, we were waiting for minutes but no one came, we called one of them but she did not appeared until another minutes, she seemed annoyed every time we requested something (bread, another drink or the bill)

Very Beautiful Bar-Restaurant in Gruyères Town. From we could enjoyed a nice view of the Town drinking some beers. Just recommend to the Service Staff to speaking another languages please (not only French)
