Pier 701 Restaurant Bar

Five stars for the view. Four stars for the food. Four stars for the service. Two stars for the ridiculous policies around credit card fees, time limits, forced gratuities, and a limit on how much you can split a check. One star for the forced valet parking. The view is really stunning and the food was very good. I had oysters, a wedge salad, and the skirt steak. They ran out of the short rib. All was very tasty and well-cooked, except for the oysters and lettuce, which were appropriately raw. I had to ask for horseradish for the oysters and was promptly accommodated. It's a great night out with a great atmosphere if you can stomach the other downers. Parking is valet only and ridiculously slow. One driver in our party had to wait 20 minutes for his car to be taken. I had to wait 20 minutes after I gave my ticket to get my car back. It was a busy Saturday night. Logistically, this restaurant gets more stars taken off. This could have been a five star experience, but the lack of attention to detail and unnecessary fees really lessen the experience. The servers work hard and deserve to be tipped well.

This place has so much potential given the beautiful views. But we encountered a couple of issues during our dining visit. The service here is slow but once we had our drinks it was fine. We ordered wings and they weren't that good. Once we got the wings we were swarmed by 4-6 bees. They kept on coming. We couldn't even eat anymore because there was too many of them. Not only the bees but the lantern flies made it an unenjoyable dining experience. Not sure if we'd come back but it's a good place to just grab drinks and enjoy the view. Manager was nice enough to take the wings off given that we couldn't even eat them due to the bees. So we appreciated that.

Only three stars because it was overpriced and the food was simply bland. The ambiance and service was fine, although the valet driver was high as a kite. The food itself was just not worth the price. Our table got oysters, calamari, Parmesan fries, the burger, and lobster roll. Calamari and fries were basic, but expensive. Oysters were good. The burger was the best dish, but it was just a regular burger--nothing special. The lobster roll was really disappointing, though. So much lobster was packed on a grocery store hot dog bun and it tasted like nothing. Couldn't even taste salt. The bun was not even toasted.

We've been here a few other times and really enjoyed it so decided to come back for lunch on Saturday afternoon. The ambiance is great being right along the Hudson River and views of the Mario Cuomo bridge. We got seated right away . Our waiters must of been new. My husband ordered the angus burger with Swiss cheese medium well It came out well and the bun was too thick. I ordered the lobster sliders with sweet potatoe fries and got regular fries but then he bought out what I ordered. The sliders were good and was a fair price. It's a great spot and will go back. Check it out

Lovely place with valet, gorgeous views, good food and in a great location. Service was just meh but all else as perfect! The views good and drinks were enjoyed by all. Definitely a nice place to celebrate a family or friends gathering, enjoy a romantic date night or just relax and enjoy the views. Can also sit at the bar and enjoy the lovely scenery. Valet parking is a plus!
