Ate here 3 years ago and it was absolutely epic, given I grew up next to Greeks and have traveled to Greece many times ? I knew great Greek food when I tried it ? sadly as I live 4 hrs away and of course Covid I have not been back till today ?. One word ? garbage!!! The food was sloppy, tasteless (except for the mountain of salt) the fries and gyro were greasy and dry? and the meat tasted like it was frozen, then microwaved ? then cooked. The dolmas were delicious, but the other dishes were below average? Greek food is simple, bright, flavoursome, has a zing of lemon and acid driven olive oil?.sadly none of these simple and essential flavours where here tonight the staff were inattentive, lazy and when I asked questions about some of the menu items the lady behind the counter was clueless ? don?t waste your money? go somewhere else ? sad, I will not be coming back ?. And gone are the days of me talking this place up over the last 3 yrs.
We went to a late lunch at 3:00 and ordered immediately. The food came about 15 minutes after our order. Grecian Beefteki Burger: good. Beef pork was delicious. The bungalow was a bit dry. The cheeky sauce was delicious! French fries: crispy not excessively salty. Big part. The frige sauce perfectly complements the frits. Chicken Souvlaki Plate: delicious! The part was pretty big. The chicken souvlaki was delicately tasteful. The Tzatziki sauce was good. The Greek salad was also good. PS. Get the fry sauce as it is delicious on everything! Overall, good food and I come back to try different items on the menu.
The beef lamb gyro is the best gyro in Folsom bar none. And their Tzatziki is really good. One of my two favorite places for lunch, you cannot go wrong with anything on their menu. Service has always been excellent, highly recommend Petra if you want the best Greek food in Folsom.
