Osteria Borgo - Reservar uma mesa

After our walk through the brilliantly Xmas-lit Piazza in Ascona, we finally managed to have dinner at Osteria Borgo!The welcome was warm and attentive, although the dining room was not particularly cozy. The coziness stemmed out of Monica and Franco...The home-made pastas were delicious, in good, genuinely Italian style. The gnocchi was particularly tender; the spaghetti had beautiful 'aglio' on it.Osteria Borgo leaves you with a puzzle: such 'cooking to perfection' could also deserve 'much more ambiance'... or, then. 'maybe not'...We will be puzzled the next time, too...

This restaurant is one my sister-in-law's favorites. We had lunch here and enjoyed every bite. All of the pastas are made in-house except for the penne. Two of us had the cannelloni, two had the carbonara, and one had the penne arrabiatta. All were amazing! The chef and the waitress were both very friendly and accommodating (we changed tables when one outside became available). On his way out for the day, the chef stopped to ask us if we had enjoyed our meal. A nice touch!

We have been to Osteria Borgo several times during our time in Ascona and it never fails to show itself from its best side, both in terms of food and service. We can strongly recommend it as a very good alternative to the busy piazza by the lakefront.

The pizza was wonderful, although there was no one who could really understand what we wanted as no one spoke any English. So stick with the exact menu item. Basically it is a bar with a few tables.

We arrived a little late (about 21.45) and we was kindly accommodated. Pizza was fresh and tasty. Would highly recommend.
