Officina 1 - Reservar uma mesa

Visited a couple of times over the last 2 month or so. The ambience is quiet nice and deserves a very good to excellent rating. Nevertheless the food is a hit or miss. If you charge 24 Euros for a rather simple fish dish you would expect constant quality as well as preparation above average. Unfortunately this is not always the case. Sometimes it tastes great, two weeks later the exact same dish is just bland and overcooked. The wait staff is not used to criticism, so it can be quite a discussion if something is not done right. Overall the menu is not on the cheap side, so be prepared to leave around 100 Euros for two if you order starters and have some wine and water. I believe that there are better Italian restaurants around.

Excellent Italian food (antipasti, pasta, tiramisu, foccaccia, ...) and nice interior design - the building might have been a little factory or repair-shop. Two levels, some bigger tables with benches, which facilitates conversation with other diners - or you choose a smaller table for some more privacy. It took some time to be able to order food despite the restaurant not being full. Prices at the higher end of mid-range (without me having a deep insight into prices in Essen).

this is a nice place to eat, quite friendly, in a nice building just tucked off the street, the menu is quite comprehensive, with an array of pizza if that is too your liking. the traditional Italian dishes are also quite good, though I did find the lasagna lacking in flavour a bit, but the grilled octopus was lovely. The place was busy so obviously popular with locals.

I went there with different Italian friends and we've always been really impressed by the quality of pizza there! You have almost the impression of being in Italy, except for the prices which are a little bit too high...

As in the title.. I'm Italian and I've eat something different from what I call Italian taste.. Anyway not bad.. But a lot overrated. There's something cuter in Essen. So 2* just to adjust the rating. Cheers
