I am shocked to read the review from an Irish tourist, which is the complete opposite of our frequent visits here. Our most recent visit was last week, and the food and service were as good as ever. The chips are exactly to our taste. Home made, not frozen. The restaurant is always packed with French people, who enjoy the good value lunchtime menu. May I comment in response to the negative review that this is a very popular restaurant catering to French people, usually on their lunch break, who eat what is normal in France. Therefore, do not expect additional vegetables e.g. peas with your chips and salad. You can always ask for extras if you want them. It is normal in France, except maybe at places catering for foreign tourists, to keep your cutlery for two courses. Leathery steaks may well be the result of a customer insisting on tres bien cuite , ie overcooked. When we once asked for this, the proprietor persuaded us to go for a slightly rarer, although not ****, steak and it was great. Everything about this restaurant is very much the way we like things. If you want to eat as you do at home, don 't come to France! Or maybe Macdonalds would be your best option, no cutlery at all.
