We had received an offer of 30% off, so thought as it was a nice day, we could walk over and enjoy a meal together as a family. We were greeted, and ordered a drink at the bar to take outside as we were a little early and it was a lovely evening. I asked if we could start a tab for the drinks to add to the main bill, but were told it would probably be easier to pay now, no big deal, but surely making things easier for you is not key in customer service. We had our drink and returned inside and were shown to our table. At that point there were maybe two or three other tables in the restaurant. In was clear that minimal staff were in attendance FOH, one waiter, one food runner and two other team members, including the manager, floating between bar and restaurant. This staff shortage soon became obvious when trying to order our drinks. Longs delays to place the order, then even longer to receive the drinks, to the point where we gave up waiting and went to the bar ourselves to collect our orders. I'm assuming the staff levels BOH were as stretched as out front, as although the food was very tasty and well cooked, it took an age to come. The 30% offer was very gratefully received, and we would have bought more drinks and desserts, but just couldn't risk the wait. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, just a couple short. As I said earlier, we are close enough to walk to the pub, and would love to visit more often, but probably only for a drink until we saw signs of a more efficient level of service.
