matoi sushi - Reservar uma mesa

I'll start by saying that I'm not a big fan of Japanese restaurants with overtly modern interior and menu filled newly created non-traditional dishes.But Matoi Sushi is everything that I expect from a casual Japanese reataurant, with classic yet confortable atmosphere.I've tried various dishes including appetizers, sushi and rolls, noodles, et cetera.I liked all of them and loved many of them, but my favourite portion of their menu has to be the lunch specials, or Teishokus.They're affordable, provide such a variety of choices for the main dish, come with healthy side dishes.I sometimes hope that they're open for the entire afternoon, especially because I have late lunch quite often. But it's understandable that they close during the least busy hours of the day.

We have been going to Matoi for years, and this is just THE best sushi restaurant we have ever gone to! We have tried others, but always go back to Matoi. We usually go every 2 weeks or so. Excellent, fresh food, extensive menu and 'fresh sheet' and best service you could ever have. The staff are wonderful and very attentive. We always receive complimentary appetizers. They are closed Mondays and get quite busy on weekends, so reservations are recommended, especially large groups. I love the grilled whole squid, assorted shashimi and my husband's favorite is the Deluxe Chirashi. A BIG THUMBS UP!

My family and I typically get take out from this restaurant once / week. They are very busy so I would recommend reservations if you want to get a seat - otherwise, try to arrive as close to opening time as possible! Service can be a bit slow, particularly if they are busy . . . but the food is worth the wait!They have a great menu and the lunch sets are great value.

While a little out of the way, Matoi serves superb sushi and excellent grilled and fried Japanese food. Also they have a very good pricing considering the excellent quality. Check out the fresh sheet, it is always worth trying something new.
