I first visited Lowry's in July 2019 and haven't looked back since! We were greeted by Ali who greeted us with a warm smile and let us know she had just taken over from the old owners, so was just getting her head around the new kitchen! ... Well you'd never know that she hadn't been in there for years the service was fast, the food delicious and we were made to feel extremely welcome! Since July I've made frequent visits to Lowry's and it's one of my favourite little spots to take family and friends to when we want a quiet space to enjoy some food and quality time together. There is a range of seating from more practical tables for when we are having lunch together from the extensive menu of jacket potatoes, sandwiches and more to a comfy sofa for when we have nipped in for a very generous slice of Ali's homemade cakes. Being gluten free and a fussy eater I can find dining out a bit of a nightmare but there is a wide range of options for GF (including proper cake not just brownie! and nothing is too much hassle when I want to change the options slightly to cater for my fussiness! Ali and her staff always make the time to greet you no matter how busy they are and the food and service they provide is outstanding 5 stars Highly recommended!

The portion sizes were questionable, 4 baby plum tomatoes on my plate but full portion on my boyfriends and a tablespoon of beans on his but full portion on mine. My Water glass was dirty, the bottle of coke was warm, the cappuccino wasn’t hot. It took over half a hour for our food to arrive and it wasn’t even that busy. The place was filthy. The kitchen was an absolute disaster. The seating areas were a mess. I pointed out a particular eye sore to the owner/manager when we walked in, he commented that it was his son but when we left 45 minutes later it was still there not cleaned up. The sofa in the corner upstairs looked absolutely disgusting. The seating was a mosh mash of all types and didn’t work well together at all. I used to come here years ago but it has since been taken over like other places in the area and unfortunately the current owners have not been able to keep up the same level of service and quality the original owners did. Won’t be visiting again.

My parents like to visit Lowry's and I knew they would miss it during lockdown. I contacted Alison to ask her if she could surprise them with a delivery of coffee and cake to their doorstep. I knew it was a bit of an ask, but she was absolutely lovely and went the extra mile for me. I don't know the Espresso Bar personally, but can't fault the kindness and generosity that I met, and that she showed to my parents. The prices are very reasonable too. Exactly the kind of local business that adds so much to the community and that we need to support during this time!

We went here for the first time as a treat for breakfast on my birthday and really enjoyed it. The coffee was full of flavour and very enjoyable, so good we both had a second. The coffees came with a chocolate taster which was excellent, very difficult to resist buying more. The breakfast was a really good portion nicely cooked well for a reasonable price. A pleasant comfortable environment and by 9:30 also quite full on a Thursday in March. This may have been our first, but definitely will not be our last visit.
