I have been dining at the Olivier for more than 20 years and am sad to see a slow decline in quality. Not, I hasten to add, in the cuisine, but in the service which is very spotty and can be painfully slow and also in the general decoration which is badly in need of renovation especially as pointed out by one reviewer, the old chairs from the former Gourmet restaurant which really need replaceing as the springs have gone and sitting in them is quite uncomfortable. And with slow service one sits in them for a long time! The cuisine itself is generally of a high standard and sometimes very high. The last meal we had there included a chateaubriand with béarnaise sauce which was superb! Perfectly cooked to our request and the sauce was lovely. The selection of wines is good, with lots of Valais wines available and the price of the wines is correct. (The reviewer who received a bill for 180frs for 4 glasses of wine was obviously the victim of a server 's error, and I hope she or he pointed this out!! However I feel that with the general quality where it is right now the food prices are exagerrated. Almost 200frs for dinner for two people with open wine is too much!!
