I visited Liverpool House with my wife and sister for a regular dinner outing and I can say that it was one of the best meals I had in Montreal for a very long time although pricey. The restaurant is located on the Notre Dame street which is now the part of downtown Montreal booming with new restaurants, bars and pubs. So you can get there quite easily taking your own car, taxi or Uber. I don’t think there are close subway stations. I think the closest one is Atwater station but it is still a taxi drive away, so you might be better taking a taxi all the way to get to it. If you are taking your own car, the area can get a little crowded in the evenings and during weekends. While I never had issues parking there, you might spend more time finding a spot in the various little streets coming out and into Notre Dame. I parked in a parking lot 2 minutes on foot from the restaurant for $10 (I think it is not too bad for the area). The parking is actually a CAA inspection front yard that turns into a parking spot at close of business. The restaurant itself is quite genuine. Don’t expect a large place or something very lavish. It actually isn’t since it tends to be more on the trendy side and that’s what makes it so nice and wonderful. It reflects the genuine look and feel of this part of Montreal and has the same decoration as its sister place (Joe Beef) just next door. I don’t think they have an outdoor seating area, at least not on the front side as is the case with most restaurants in Montreal. However, I don’t think it is actually needed as it is mainly a socializing place and not much conceived for scenery. The menu is out of this world and in my opinion; this is where this place scores the highest. Everything we ordered was an explosion of flavors and a reflection of some of the best meals I ever had in Montreal. I started by ordering 6 oysters and they were just delicious (I highly recommend them). This was followed by another appetizer, the mozzarella salad, also very nice, although it is no different than any mozzarella salad tasted in other places. Then came the time for the main course. I ordered the Rainbow Trout (which I super recommend). Others in my party ordered the Lobster Spaghetti that are just out of this world. I couldn’t believe how pointy and tasty were the flavors and how great this experience was. (Another plate I highly recommend). The service at the Liverpool House is definitely a reflection of the perfection of the place. Our waitress was super nice, smiley and knowledgeable of all the details of the menu. She was checking on us regular without being rude or annoying at all. She had an answer to every question we had and provided us with everything we needed to have a great experience. I loved how the people who work there are dressed. They don’t have a common uniform and are all choosing their own garments, which are as trendy as the place itself.Only downturn of the place….its prices. My bill was $242. That is for three persons ordering two common appetizers, one main course each and one wide glass each. So yes, that is not an everyday place and definitely not accessible to everybody. I can definitely say that it was worth every dollar but I wouldn’t see myself spending that much on a regular basis for dinner. I highly recommend the Liverpool House if you want to impress someone for dinner, take a business visit out for dinner or lunch in Montreal (this is where Justin Trudeau took Barack Obama to when he was visiting Montreal on June 6), or maybe impress on a first date. It is also a must for anyone who has not tried it yet, but based on its price, I doubt that you will try it another time.***Please like this review if you find it helpful.
