On a warm sunny afternoon, I looked for a nice place to enjoy a coffee break. Surprisingly, I found only two restaurants by the lake Les Régates being one of them. The restaurant (which is rather a café attracts guests thanks to its unbeatable location, directly by Versoix boat pier. However, food and service are nothing to write home about. Service is disappointing: although not unfriendly, the waiter did not look very motivated. Furthermore I could hear other staff members chatting loudly at the bar. I ordered the Coupe Maison 3 scoops of fruit sherbet, whipped cream, Maraschino. Neither good nor bad rather passionless. Coupe Maison, 0.5l Rivella, and a coffee resulted in a bill of CHF21.80, which is not cheap. To sum it up, the whole experience was average neither terrible nor outstanding. But I will probably not come back.
We were in Switzerland for only two days and promised ourselves a lunch by Lake Geneva. Arriving in Versoix, we spotted the restaurant and the menu seemed appealing. We ordered chanterelle mushrooms with tagliatelle, a caesar salad and fillet of pork in a mustard sauce. Two dishes came with side salads. Everything was perfect. The food was delicious and the staff were welcoming. Price wise we expected to pay quite a bit as Switzerland is not cheap. With drinks the meal worked out about £25 a head. Sadly we did not have room for dessert. The surrounding area was peaceful. We sat outside. If we are ever in the area again we would definitely return.
The restaurant is in a very nice location, great view of the Lake Geneva. The food is delicious, the service very good. First night in Versoix, I got excited about how nice everything was so, I left my purse with all my passports, credit cards, money, cell phone in the restaurant and when I got to the hotel room I realized that I forgot my purse on the chair. Well, the restaurant was closed, but next day at 6 am when they open I went to the restaurant and the owner gave me my purse and said no problem. That is what you call integrity.
The patio was very comfortable, The steak, potatoes and salad prepared beautifully and very tasty. A great spot for a comfortable, tasty meal. My wife asked that they take the ham off the ham and cheese sandwich but they missed that instruction. Be sure the server is clear what you order.
