"Great food, really beautifully presented. Best veal sweetbread I ever had! Nice selection of wines as well. One remark perhaps: we had dinner here with 2 and to us, it really had more of a "business hotel" feel, so for a "romantic tête-à-tête", other places might be better suited..."

We dined here last night with high hopes. We just went off the menu. The starters arrived and were spectacular taste and quality amazing . My wife had escargot and I had terrine .We we ordered the mains my wife had lamb but requested it to be well done . I had the larded steak which I requested blue. When the mains arrived my steak was perfect but my wife's was ****. I requested it to be well done and it was returned to the kitchen but when it arrived at the table it was not much better and the waitress disappeared!I had let my food go cold to find the waitress who stood just looking at me . I requested the manager who then took it to the kitchen What arrived back looked like it had been microwaved into card . My wife ate up quickly and I finished my now cold steak as we seemed to have become the focus of attention . My wife had a desert and we ordered 2 lattes which came a americaxnos with cold milk . We left the coffee and took our champagne back to our room. What I had high hopes for was a total let down purely because they cannot give the customer what they want . A basic of any businessWe won't be eating here tonight !

Monday evenings in the Épernay area can be a challenge to find food, as most restaurants are closed. Certainly nothing in Hautvillers, where we stayed at the superb Clos des Armoires. The hotel/restaurant is by a roundabout, with as neighbouring 'budget' hotel across the road. By the entrance is a small bar, where we perused the menu with a G & T (reasonable €6.50)and champagne flute (€11). The food was very good. Service was not rushed as there were only two waitresses. They apologised as one of their colleagues was ill. No problem. Very friendly. The food was excellent, details of which are on their website. Along with a bottle of 'house' champagne, the bill for the two set menus was €218.50. Eye watering, to say the least.Shame the restaurant has very little character - views of vineyards were only of building work and the roundabout. Disappointing for the money.

We chose this hotel because it was small and within easy reach of the town of Epernay but also because it offered good access to the surrounding Champagen houses that lay all around Epernay. What we were not expecting was the warmth of the welcome, the owner, whose name escapes me, had spent many years in London and, therefore, was very fluent in English. The rooms were small but large enough for a short and very pleasant stay.Breakfast was more than sufficient and dinner; well, hats off to the chef; it was excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel, albeit you will need car. That said, it was only about 12 Euros into Epernay whare you could wine and dine til your hearts content. After all, this is the Champagne Capital of France!!!

Visited with high hopes but this restaurant was very much average. It wasn't terrible but it certainly didn't excite. The food was okay apart from the puddings which were pedestrian at best; like the whole experience by no means bad just... average! The restaurant is new and shows it. The atmosphere was clinical sort of "suburban business motel" which in retrospect is what it is. The service was as one would expect in a British motel diner not a true French restaurant but again not offensive. We left with an overall feeling of being underwhelmed. Would be okay for an overnight pitstop I suppose.
