Off to the Puces for a potter yesterday with my cash in hand and my eyes peeled for bargains so much to look at and to ohh and ahh over. Autumn has really come to Paris it's still sunny and bright but quite a deal cooler . Had not realized the market was quite so close , got a local bus there and was happy to walk home . The Puces is a collection of lanes, alleyways and arcades all stuffed with a bewildering combination of the real deal and rubbish , the trick is to work out what .Finally my business satisfactorily concluded I went looking for some lunch . At the end of a lane I found a cafe called Gastropods run by a pair of sparky young chefs who are evidently is attracting some attention in the right circles , fresh produce every day with specials and delicious local artisan sour dough bread , spinach salad with Serrano ham blue cheese walnuts and pears with a fresh fig and almond tart for afters yum yum . Also visited on a second occasion and had a wonderful Caesar salad with gorgeously moist yellow (corn fed ) chicken and home made croutons with a fabulous strawberry tart with almond cream filling for after double yumm yumm .Extremely quick and efficient service from both wait staff and kitchen gives this a big tick from me ,great job Gastropods
