"It was recommended by the B and B we were staying in. Great food, friendly service. They spoke much better English than my French. Particularly good profiteroles with hot chocolate sauce."

We visited L'ecluse this evening and had a main course and glass of wine each. Total cost €43 approx. Not our first visit - we visited last year also. We left very satisfied. My wife had brochette of lamb with potatoes, veg etc while I had duck in orange sauce. Both dishes were exquisite. Perfectly cooked and presented. Friendly staff. Lovely location facing on to the river.Menu items are priced on the high side but not too bad. The prices asked for the local Mucadet wines (one at €27) and indeed other Loire Valley wines are, however, way over the top. 'Rip off' would be a kind description. Do yourself a favour and spend your hard earned €27 on 6 bottles of very nice Muscadet in one of the fine vineyards around Vertue.

Midweek lunch, from the menu at 20 Euros was exceptionally good. There are another couple of fixed price menus and then the à la carte. An Italian salad starter followed by the fish main course of a duo of salmon and cod with mashed potato was more than enough, with a strawberry and mint dessert. Wines are a bit expensive but a good selection and local. A good walk along the river after lunch was also enjoyed.

On a sunny evening the setting is beautiful, overlooking the river and locks. The food was excellent also, although the staff didn't speak much English it wasn't a problem. We couldn't find fault with anything we ate. Strongly recommended!
