Le Poisson d'Avril

We visit Le Guilvinec every year - in fact we were among the first customers when Poisson d'avril opened and I wrote a review for the Newspaper I was working for at the time. We chose the 29 euro menu. The langoustine soup was not available but the crab soup was an acceptable alternative. We ordered a glass of wine each at 9 and 6 Euros and were staggered to receive just 125ml of fairly undistinguished wine. We appreciate that restaurants do mark up wine but this was a bit much.Not even the Manoir au Quat Saisons in Oxford mark up to that extent. Our main courses were good but then we waited and waited for dessert. After 25 minutes we were about to leave when they arrived. The chocolate cake was desperately dry. Had they forgotten about it and us? We did not order coffee. A reasonable meal marred by slow service and the feeling that the cost of the wine was a rip off. We will not go back next year.

We had a fantastic dinner on a beautiful sunny terrace. We chose the €30 menu which was excellent. The staff were very friendly & attentive and obviously knowledgeable about the food they are serving and made some good recommendations. The restaurant appears to have no airs & graces - some people were very casually dressed, others more formal - but it had a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely recommend booking in advance for a dinner reservation.

Parking nearby. The place (translates April Fools' joke) is simple and light flooded. There is a terrace as well. Lunch menu limited to few dishes, but sufficient choice. Perhaps dinner menu different. Wine list with a few good bottles. Service and food good, 3.25-3.5 points correct.

We had a delicious seafood menu accompanied by a good wine list. The setting is lovely, looking out to sea. The service was excellent and they welcomed our puppy.

Excellent address in Guilvinec! Very interesting combination of tastes, great quality & good service. All with a fantastic view We will be back for sure
