Our AirBnb host, a local resident, recommended this small restaurant to us and we were so glad we took his advice. We made a last minute reservation and had to wait a bit. The manager, not 100% sure of his title but I think it might have been Mathieu Limon, gave us a glass of champagne while we waited outside. He patiently went thru the menu in English for us. He seemed quite passionate about all the ingredients and was super enthusiastic. It was delightful. The restaurant is farm to table, with most ingredients coming from a certain distance away. The menu is not printed but written on chalk boards, as it changes so often to keep the ingredients super fresh. The menu is on the small side, but amazing. No formal wine list is offered but our waiter had a discussion with us about our tastes in wine and hit a perfect score with what he chose for us. The restaurant is small, guessing seats 35 or so. The waiter was energetic, professional, friendly, and spoke English. My daughter and I had a cold melon soup “Gaspacho de melon au cognac, ses billes panées et sa chips de lard", beautifully presented with delicious crispy bacon garnish. My husband had the salmon with salad to start. For dinner, two of us had the vegetarian option, which was roasted vegetables on a piece of bread, and my husband has the pigeon “Le voyage Provence / Aquitaine du Pigeon vendéen des Papounets". All was truly delicious. The pigeon did come with a claw sticking out, (see the photo), while it was a bit creepy we did find it amusing. A napkin strategically placed solved the problem. Dessert , “Le risotto sucré à la chartreuse jaune, crème diplomate fraise et chips de menthe” was a chartreuse risotto with fruit, and a napoleon like dessert, “1000 Feuilles façon Stendhal" that was sublime! All the food was presented beautifully. I wish we had discovered this restaurant earlier in our trip, as we surely would have returned. It was a bit warm inside during a July heat wave. But we did not mind too much. Tip: Be sure to make a reservation. Good for Foodies!

Go there if you like good food. I understand, but don't agree, with some of the bad reviews. These guys love their job and the love the food. You would not understand their passion if you just want something to eat. This is so much better than that.
