le Mazot - Reservar uma mesa

This apparently is the number 2 restaurant in Vevey. It's an interesting place because we left with somewhat mixed feelings. When we entered the restaurant we noted that it was tiny the chairs and tables were so close to each other that I was afraid I would have to dine with 20 (if this number even fits in) other guests. In a way I did not notice because I am not a French speaker, meaning that I was isolated from the other conversations. If I would have been able to speak French though, I am afraid my experience would be worse. The waitress was kind but also made an impression she was either overrun by all the work to be done (she was the only one welcoming, taking orders, serving food, and so on) or forgot things due to age. Not everything we ordered was actually served. In terms of what was served, I must note that the steak was perfect! In terms of sides though, I would almost call it sad. I can prepare a more interesting salad myself at home and somehow I find fries too easy to serve in a restaurant. Adding it all up I would go here again. I am not sure about it being the second best in the whole of Vevey. Yes the food was tasty but not superb and therefore a bit expensive for what you get. The service was not that good and the overall restaurant was very very small.

Came here for lunch on a week day on the later side. It was about 3/4 full, mostly tables of local business people (I think). Filet de perch and frites were good, the rosti and fried eggs was perfect and the salad is the kind of simple toss of fresh greens with that perfect vinaigrette I alway associate with Vaud. Server was busy but didn't miss a beat.

My wife and I are here when we visited Vevey for the big wine festival. It is very small and cozy, filled with locals (what better way to determine if the food is good or not! . We wanted someplace authentic for our Swiss fondue, and we got it! Great place!

Not great at all. Service was rude, if you only speak a little of french she will shut you up. No international customers welcome. Fondue on the carte was not available, instead being rushed into alternatives. Sorry not happy.

We dined here our last night and loved their food. Their Rosti was so delicious! The staff were very friendly. You could definitely get a feel that this was a local spot which we appreciated.
