"The chef has achieved a Michelin Star and the meal we had showed that even for a luchtime "menu du jour" the meal will be excellent. Service was attentive and not oppressive. It was the little touches that made it so special , an "amuse de bouche" with amazing flavours but every course was perfect. We will return!"

"Le Fanal" overlooking the marina in Banyuls sur Mer is by far the best restaurant you will find in the area. We have eaten here on a number of occasions (most recently last Friday which was pleasantly quiet)) and the food has never always been of the highest quality and far better than the standard fare in the other restaurants in the area. At first glance it may look expensive - and it will be if you go for the degustation menu at €60 + wine or €90 with wine or the a la carte - but the Menu du Marche available lunch and evening is a mere €19 for 2 courses or €29 for three.The best part of this restaurant apart from the excellent food and friendly staff is that you are treated the same no matter which menu you choose! A tip for a really good value meal: go for the €19 two course choosing a starter and main course (choice of 2 on both). You will get an amuse bouche of typically 4-5 items as well. To finish order a coffee which comes with a 3-4 mini desserts. The wine selection is wide and fairly pricey but worth getting a bottle (no pichets) to go with the meal- but you can simply order a carafe of water if you wish. Enjoy.

We have been to this restaurant, across the road from the marina, a few times now usually in beautiful weather with blue skies and sunshine but today there was a storm with very strong winds and wonderful waves breaking over the rocks which was spectacular. We usually go at lunch times and have the 3 course menu with wine which works out very reasonable when compared to a lot of the local restaurants. To start with an always amazing amuse bouche followed by a 3 course meal with a choice from two selections and followed by coffee and mini desserts. The highest standard of food with excellent presentation which is to be truly enjoyed. The staff are also excellent, friendly and helpful with top class service.

This is the Michelin 1 ⭐️ of Banyuls. We went there for a treat, expecting to be surprised by creative good cuisine, and were disappointed. The food is good but on the average side, more like a high quality bistrot than a 1⭐️ restaurant. One dish was very good though: some iberic pork with a spicy sauce and girolles. Very good. The rest was ok. Besides, coeliac people need to be careful: informing about your allergy isn't enough, you need to make sure when each dish comes whether they paid attention or just forgot you couldn't have wheat based products...

Possibly the best place in Banyuls-sur-mer & obviously popular with the locals - we went for Sunday lunch in early March & it was popular even out of tourist season. Very well presented & cooked, though I was a bit biased by 2 of my favourites on the set menu (crab & rabbit). I'm unsure of its Michelin star status, as good as it was, there are several very good places nearby without such an accolade. No matter ! Grub was good, service was OK, price was good so there you go. Doubt if I'll revisit though unless I'm in the area
